and I ask

is it ego's folly or heart's dream to connect or mind's wish to communicate or meaningless drivel that leads one to feel a sense of loss, even a betrayal, when words left on the web, especially in comments to others, are deleted...

ahh ... I understand the sense of loss even betrayal ... but to let those emotions take hold in any way shape or form would be to presume, assume that in physical space interactions that words and thoughts and opinions are not deleted ... perhaps even automatically deleted ...

tracking down some of the email notifications, i found a few more comments you left tonight...

it is much sadder when physical space interactions word thoughts and people are deleted... at least on the net, they can hardly mean anything... a blog can disappear and while the words are missed, the writer was often a relative stranger... but when people delete each other from their lives, that is a sad waste of time and energy...

my thoughts were of web words, the illusions we create based on reading and commenting, and how some wish the threads of conversations to be permanent, to remain online as recorded history, and how some could care less and delete at whim their comments or blogs...

i am of the former wish, for posterity and future generations to have a chance to know the thoughts, feelings,a nd conversations we share... and my pondering was to ask is that ego's folly, heart's dream, mind's wish, or merely meaningless drivel given the illusion of value that creates such a wish for such an illusion of permanence...

as if the archives of ancient greece could be read today... people have been destroying other people's recorded moments throughout history and perhaps they've got it right, perhaps there is no point to record any history... and yet, learning from history and simply enjoying history is a point of survival, evolution, and pleasure... all three rather necessary aspects of life...

so i leave my words for as long as they may last and delete nothing, just cuz it makes sense and feels good...

whatever the deeper motivation :)
